[EYE PATCH SERIES] THE FACE SHOP Raspberry Roots Collagen Eye Patches

The next eye patch that I tried is another one from The Face Shop, called ‘Raspberry Roots Collagen Eye Patches’. check out my thoughts on the other eye patch that I previously tried from The Face Shop here! I honestly was not a huge fan of the Bright Eyes Modeling Gel Patch, so I was hoping if I bought two at least one would be good. I hope. This one doesn’t look as fancy as the Gel Patch, but does it do a better job? Find out more below!

Quickie (for people like me who look things up at the store)
The Good

Refreshing, fits many different face and eye shapes, light material, thin, filled with essence

The Bad

doesn’t do much at all, can’t tell much difference whether it moisturises or improves elasticity..

this eye patch helps to increase elasticity, soothe and thoroughly hydrate around eye areas…[and] deliver[s] moisture and nutrients to areas around the eyes

You get two sets of eye patches that come in a simple pack that you can easily split into two. Each pack contains two eye patches so don’t rip up both thinking that its one in each pack! It’s quite misleading but yes, believe it or not, this eye patch is a lot cheaper than the Bright Eyes Modeling Gel Patch.

out of package

When you open up the package you will notice that the eye patches are stored in a little plastic eye patch mold. Where you think its one, but its actually two! TWO! This eye patch is definitely a lot thinner in material and has a mesh-look to it (compared to the Bright Eyes Modeling Gel Patch. However, it still feels like a soft gel patch.

Water, Glycerin, Hydrolyzed Extensin, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Ceratonia Siliqua Gum, Chonorus Crispus, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Cabbage Leaf Extract, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Rubius Ellibyticus Root Extract, Machilus Odoratissima Bark Extract, Mallotus Philippinesis Bark Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Disodium Edta, Fragrance, Gelatin, Hydroxyethyl Chitosan

How it fits

Definitely feels a lot lighter compared to the Bright Eyes Modeling Gel Patch! However, the one thing that makes me not a huge fan of these gel patches is that if you put it too close to your eyes, you can feel them when you blink. So you have to find the best spot to put it so that it doesn’t bother you at all. My skin is not super sensitive, so it didn’t irritate under my eyes even though it does contain fragrance, and two parabens (marked in red above!) Similar to all eye patches it has a nice cool feeling and can do a bit of de-puffing if you put it in the fridge prior to use. It says to keep it on for 30-40 minutes for the maximum effect.

Edit: I noticed that one side is smooth and the other side has a pattern on it! When you apply it make sure you apply it on the smooth side, and not the other side.

on the eyes

Sadly, you can’t even tell if it improved your skin elasticity or hydrated your eye area unless the skin around your eyes are super dry and flaky. It didn’t seem to do much for me, and since it has no brightening effect it did not do much for my eye bags. While it is a lot cheaper, it doesn’t seem to have done anything. Perhaps that is why they decided to move on to the Slim and Lift line now instead of sticking to the Roots..line (my attempt at being funny). Hopefully I can get my hands on those ones, so it can change my not-so-good opinions of The Face Shop’s eye patches.

before and after

Sadly, this is another no-go product for me from The Face Shop. For $5, even though you get 2 sets of eye patches, you don’t see any results after using it. While your eyes may feel refreshed after, you can’t really notice an improvement in elasticity. The feeling of it being moisturised is also short-lived. I felt like my eyes could’ve used a bit more moisture so I ended up using an eye gel on my eyes afterwards. Again, after only using it once, I know I have high expectations of this; however, for the price point, I do feel like the effects should be visible, especially since you leave it on for 30-40 minutes. Definitely do not recommend spending money on this product, there are a lot of better products out there (such as Tony Moly’s Panda Dream Eye Patch)
