[EYE PATCH SERIES] LEADERS Insolution Hydrogel Eye Therapy Patch

Continuing on with my trekky journey into finding the best eye patches out there, in this post I will be testing out the LEADERS Insolution Hydrogel Eye Therapy Patch. These eye patches have been around for a while, but I never had the chance to try them! When I went grocery shopping with my mum, I noticed that she had picked out one of the Dr. Morita Eye Patches which were much cheaper (14.99CAD). HOWEVER, when I checked the ingredients list, Methylparaben was in the first half of the list. So I ended up swapping her eye patches with these ones because they don’t contain any -parabens and you can never go wrong with Leaders. Sometimes you can’t avoid parabens, but I try to avoid them as much as possible!

A little backstory about LEADERS – this is one of the extremely popular brands in Korea that have been around since 2001. They are mostly known for their sheet masks and have a huge variety of sheet masks that you can choose from. What I really liked about them was the masks that I got from Leaders were all paraben-free!

The Hydrogel Eye Therapy Patch is an award winning product (Cleo Beauty Hall of Fame in 2012), and contains many active ingredients such as Snail Mucus, Marine Collagen, Berry Extract, Broccoli Extract, Vitamin C, Sea Water and Green Tea Extract. Again, there were some mixed reviews, some people say that this product didn’t do much in terms of brightening but it did really well with hydrating and moisturising. Claims

This product claims to improve elasticity, moisture balance, nutrition and provides a cooling and soothing effect. On the LEADERS USA website, it says that this product will also brighten dark areas, reduce puffiness and diminish signs of aging.

The front of the packaging makes note that it can do the following:
1. High elasticity improvement
2. Moisture balance & nutrition supply
3. Cooling & Soothing effect

A bit different from what it says on the website, in terms of the brightening dark eye circles aspect, but we won’t know until we see the results!

Key Features

Marine collagen slows down aging and repairs damage to our skin! Vitamin C and Broccoli Extract are used to prevent fine lines and wrinkles. Vitamin C also stimulates collagen, and Vitamin A protects the skin from UV rays. Most ingredients are plant and fruit extracts, which is reassuring to know. If you’re allergic to any of these ingredients I wouldn’t recommend using it.

The Patches

What I really liked about this packaging is that the patches came separately, and not stacked onto one eye patch slot. There’s two! So you don’t/won’t accidentally think that there’s only one eye patch in each pack. They are quite drenched in essence, but after you apply them, I’d recommend fishing out the remaining in the packet and lightly pat it onto your eye patch. Every drop counts!

patches

When I applied them onto my eyes, it felt hydrating and cooling (which is what it said it would do on the front of the package). I didn’t put these in the fridge, so for them to have that cooling effect is pretty sweet. After 30 minutes, the edges of the eye patches started to dry up which meant that that moisture must’ve gone to my face, right? I hope so! Where else could it have gone? My eyes felt tighter, so that means it did something in the elasticity department (although it is short-lived). However, I didn’t notice any brightening of my dark circles, and my fine lines/barely wrinkes are still there. Maybe they put it on the site for “prolonged” use results? But you would think that it would work just once, yaknow?

before-and-after

Not sure if I put the patches on, on the wrong side. I noticed it left some marks on my face after words lol! NTS and something to keep in mind when you try these out – make sure you use the softer/non-patterned side. You can tell that not much was done for my dark circles in this photo.. Most of the results were more of a “feel” rather than something you can directly see! This is definitely something good for those long nights and dry eye days!

In Summary

This is not a bad eye patch product, but it isn’t exactly impressive either. Just an average eye patch that hydrates your eyes and cools them. I think the claims of it brightening, and being anti-aging are not true? Simply because it isn’t stated on the packaging and it’s kind of weird that some people would say that it is but it isn’t? Unless you try them out for a long period of time; however, these eye patches are quite expensive and pricey even though you do get 5 packs. It will add up if you spend around $16CAD each time just to see the long-term effects. I was a bit sad that the elastic/firming aspect wasn’t long-lasting. I could feel it after using the eye patch but the next day my eyes were back to normal. I would recommend using this during the day instead of at night so that you get the full effect. Otherwise, I will be moving on and hunting for a better eye patch product.

  1. There is a clear improvement. Like it soothes and brights. I used to have eye patches all the time. And loved them. Probably it would be a good idea to go back to them. I only use Purebess galactomyces on my eye area and although it is great for small wrinkles, it probably is not excelling at plumping and/or calming tired eyes after a long day wearing makeup. These are surely great , as I can see, but if others do the same job for less… I would also go for them.
