Buying Beauty Products from… Wishtrend

Around March I made my first ever purchase from Wishtrend’s Online Store. I have been stalking their site for probably 8 months before I actually made my purchase. I did a lot of price comparisons, looked at different websites that sold the same products before making my decision. That is, until I saw their 20th Wish, Try, Love box. If you manage to stick it out to the end of the post, there is a special little surprise! Well, depending on how you feel about surprises of course.

Disclaimer: I do not consider myself as a beauty guru/expert. The products in this post were purchased with my own money and I am not being paid to write this. My review, photos, impressions and thoughts are all my own, unless stated otherwise.
There are affiliate links and referral codes in this post. Using these links to purchase a product will allow me to earn a small commission which will go into maintaining my blog. I currently only have an affiliate link with Wishtrend.

Wishtrend has an incredibly strong presence on Social Media especially on Instagram, YouTube and Facebook. And it was on those platforms that I learned about their Wish, Try, Love Boxes. These boxes are themed, and they contain products that are sold on Wishtrend. These boxes are also offered at a pretty good discounted price that ranges from 30-40% when they first launch. So you’d have to buy them when they first come out, otherwise the discount will drop to around 10%-25%.

For example, the 20th WTL where they brought back 3 past WTL boxes that were incredibly popular. The one I chose was themed as the Ultimate Blackhead Clearing & Preventing Solution:

Price Paid vs. Current Price

66.16 USD (price includes shipping and gifts) vs. 75.97 USD (price includes shipping, no gifts)

Each time a new WTL box comes out, they make a video introducing the box PLUS the freebies that will be going into the box. But the freebies won’t be available after the promotion has ended. So only make that purchase if you know that you FOR SURE need those products in your stash because you want to try them and you’re running low on supplies. Don’t get it if you already have a stash because it will just end up sitting there for a while (like me.. but I will get around to opening them soon, as I’m working really hard to empty out what I am currently using haha…).

My Wishtrend Experience & Haul

Because Wishtrend has such a massive presence on Social Media, when I saw other fellow IGers order from Wishtrend – it made them seem quite reliable. In the sense that the products are authentic, fresh and sold at a relatively decent price. Of course, without the discounts and promotions, certain brands are a tad bit more expensive on Wishtrend compared to Jolse and some other online shops. So you have to constantly check the prices of the products that you want to buy.

Anyways, when I decided to make my purchase I made sure that I was getting a good deal out of it. For 66.16USD, I would be getting 6 different items in my box, plus free shipping and gifts. I completely forgot that the Toner Mate Cotton Pads were part of the box and not part of the freebies (my bad!). But I included it in the picture with the freebies below.

Original Price
Discounted Price
(40% off)
KLAIRS Supple Preparation Facial Toner
CHICA Y CHICO Killing Star Cleanser
SKINMISO Pore Corset Serum
23 YEARS OLD Black Paint Rubar
LEILANI Pink Mochi Nose Clear Pack (3 packs)
KLAIRS Toner Mate 2 in 1 Cotton Pad

Freebies included: 18 sample packets for KLAIRS products, Eco tote bag, and a clear plastic waterproof pouch (which were only for the first # of people – I wasn’t one of them because I bought it near the last days of the deal!).

Note: it appears that the LEILANI Pink Mochi Nose Clear Pack is no longer available on the site for sale.

I somehow figured that I’d be paying less than $20USD per product, which to be honest is an incredible deal compared to the skincare brands in Canada and the US. After I finally, finally decided to pay after that long thought process, I received a payment confirmation from Wishtrend. They then sent me various e-mails, here is timeline of when I got my products and what emails were sent to me:

  • March 8 – Payment Confirmation
  • March 8 – Receipt
  • March 8 – Order Confirmation
  • March 9 – Order being packed and prepared
  • March 13 – Shipped out
  • April 11th – Delivered and received

Since I got free shipping with this purchase, it didn’t come with a tracking number. Canada Post had been and is still going through some backlog with a ton of international orders so I was expecting my package to come in 2-3 months. However, surprisingly I got the package in my hot little hands on April 11th. What I liked is how they provided e-mails for every step of the process so you know when your order has been shipped (and if I had shipping I could’ve tracked my order but.. free shipping).

There are only certain brands that you can only get from Wishtrend such as Skinmiso, I’m from, Jungle Botanics. Having said that, I do think they have good customer service in that they keep you updated with your order. I didn’t have any problems with my WTL haul from them so I can’t attest to what would happen if a product inside the package was faulty. It is quite likely that I will continue ordering from them in the future – mainly because they have brands that other online stores in Canada don’t sell at the moment!

Beauty Tester Opportunities

If you don’t want to buy products from them yet, often when a new product launches, they will announce on Social Media (most likely Instagram) that they are looking for a certain number of beauty testers. You simply have to fill out a google form, make a Wishtrend account and wait it out.

This was how I got to try my first product from Klairs – remember the Mid-day Blue Sun Lotion from back in November?

I’m not sure if they still do this with their lives anymore, but for a while if you participated in their Facebook lives – they would giveaway the product they were introducing in that video to 3 viewers.

Wishtrend Member Benefits

Becoming a Wishtrend member basically means to simply just create an account on Wishtrend. If you don’t purchase any products from their free shipping deals, you can get free shipping if you spend over 69USD. For me, that’s personally quite a bit of a stretch financially, which is why I try to look out for better deals like their WTL boxes.

Like many online stores, they also offer a referral code. If someone uses your code, they get $5USD off their purchase and you get $5USD to spend for your next purchase. If you need that $5USD off, here is my referral link. Feel free to use it if you’d like!

Here are some ‘benefits’ that Wishtrend offers to differentiate themselves from other e-commerce retailers:

  • Seasonal discount / gift coupons
  • Rotation of products eligible for free shipping
  • Wish, Try, Love (curated product packages sold at a discounted rate)
  • Wish Recipe (compact product packages)
  • Opportunity to participate in various promotions
  • Opportunity to become a beauty tester
  • Access to various beauty tips/ news via their YouTube Channel
  • Free sample with purchase

Wishtrend on

Unfortunately buying products from Wishtrend can end up being quite pricey, because it is priced in USD. With the weak CAD right now, everything that we buy priced USD we are paying a 30% premium + foreign exchange transaction fees if you don’t have a USD credit card. So another place that I also look to purchase products is the Wishtrend storefront on Amazon. I chose this storefront specifically because they’re the only few storefronts that sell beauty products with AMAZON PRIME – which means that the order is fulfilled by Amazon and you know that what you ordered will arrive quickly and safely.

Everytime that I’ve ordered from Wishtrend’s storefront on Amazon, my products would arrive within 3-5 days, AND I never have to pay for shipping as long as I spent over $35CAD. Which, let’s be honest, is easy when you’re buying certain products like KLAIRS, CosRX and I’m From.  The only downside to ordering from Amazon is that you don’t get any samples, freebies or referral money (for sharing your membership link with your friends).

However, this is an option that is more stress-free because you don’t have to deal with Canada Post, and you don’t need to worry about the authenticity of the products because it is sold by Wishtrend. And hey! If you have prime, you’d probably get your products in less than a day :). Their selection isn’t as extensive as their website, and you have to wait for products to stock up once in a while, but it is less worrisome and the price is in CAD. Although, converted from USD so you’re pretty much paying the same amount. But hey, if you are part of WebPerspectives or something similar, you can do surveys to get free giftcards so in a sense.. this is a pretty good option as well if you’re worried about Canada Post and don’t need to get products ASAP.
