[REVIEW] LUNA NECTAR Heliophilia Glow & Fix Serum, Sphinx Body Experience Oil and The Metamorphic Jade Roller

Over 2 months ago, Maia from Luna Nectar reached out and asked if I was interested in trying out some of their products and review them. I wasn’t too sure at first (I’ve never heard of Luna Nectar), but when I did some research I thought their products would be worth trying. Mainly because their products look most to be like body oils, facial oils (which I was interested in trying out with facial massagers such as a jade roller or guasha. The review for this took a little longer than I had liked because I needed to reset my current routine so that I could see the differences/benefits these products provide.

Disclaimer: I am not a beauty guru nor expert, and all sorts that fall under that category. These products were provided to me for review purposes. My review, photos, impressions and thoughts are all my own, unless stated otherwise. While this product may or may not have worked for my skin, it may or may not work for yours – remember, your mileage may vary (YMMV)!

Quickie

Heliophilia Glow & Fix Serum

The Good

  • Lightweight and easy to apply
  • Hydrating
  • Moisturizing overnight

The Bad

  • It has an orange-y tint to it that takes some time to oxidize away
  • The orange tint could potentially dye counters/clothing if not careful – the pigment is quite strong
Sphinx Body Experience Oil

The Good

  • Hydrating with a lightweight finish
  • Moisturizing even when I wake up the next morning
  • Works best right after you shower and skin is still moist

The Bad

  • Fragrance from oils might be too strong for some
  • Fragrances were too strong for the skin at the back of my neck (most sensitive)
  • The cap/nozzle can be hard to open because your hands are so oily from closing it – sometimes it makes it hard for me to open
The Metamorphic Jade Roller

The Good

  • Stays cool – which is something neat about jade
  • Good quality jade roller (compared to ones I’ve tried from HomeSense or Winners) – it’s put together and doesn’t feel flimsy

The Bad

  • Need to use some kind of facial oil or cream with it otherwise it will do more harm than good on your skin (dragging etc)
  • I would’ve liked the packaging to come with a set of instructions on how to use it (with pictures) – but they do have a tutorial on their website

Will I buy this?

The price point is really high for these two products, and while I love them I would personally try to find a dupe or an option at a lower price point (but if I can’t find any, then I would go for these two products – they really do be making my skin feel amazing and hydrated).

Although I would highly recommend the Jade Roller – it’s one of the best quality rollers I have seen so far and the ones from Winners aren’t cheap either!

Packaging

Heliophilia Glow & Fix Serum

Comes in a glass bottle, with dropper – which makes sense for this product! The whole thing is glass though, so make sure you’re careful with it. The product comes in a cardboard box that helps protect the bottle during shipping (it’s pretty good quality cardboard too)

Sphinx Body Experience Oil

This is the nozzle, which is covered by a clear plastic cap. The plastic cap is what makes it hard to open sometimes after you use it the day before – it’s oily so when you try to lift the cap, your hand might slide off.. so I usually open it with a cloth instead.

The Metamorphic Jade Roller

Came in a bubble wrap packaging to product the jade from being damaged during shipping. It had a little card describing what it is and what it does, but no visuals of how to use the product.

Texture

Heliophilia Glow & Fix Serum

When you first apply this oil, it feels quite heavy – but the finish is lightweight. There is also a slight orange tint from the product.

Sphinx Body Experience Oil

The texture for this is quite similar to the facial oil, but I do feel like it could be more runny to make the application a little easier – sometimes I need a lot more product than I would’ve thought for an oil since a little doesn’t really go too far (depending on where you’re applying). I needed ALOT more for my legs, but a little went a very long way on my arms. It feels a lot better when my skin is damp/moist.

The Metamorphic Jade Roller

Smooth, jade stone – feels nice when you apply it with oil or cream, but can be rough on your skin if you don’t use an oil/cream.

Application

Heliophilia Glow & Fix Serum

When you first apply this oil, it feels quite heavy. From the picture above, the orange tint stays for a bit until it fully oxidizes. Sometimes at night, I would be nervous that it was my make-up or dirt from my skin even though it was after I washed my face and went through my whole routine!

The finish is definitely dewy though, and gives the skin a nice glow!

The Metamorphic Jade Roller

Circulation does improve for my skin, but it’s hard to try this for the first time without any instructions. It would be nice to have an info card so that you wouldn’t need to go back and forth on your phone to figure out how to use this the right way.

Effectiveness

Heliophilia Glow & Fix Serum

Aside from the noticeable orange tint it leaves on my skin, this product actually leaves my skin feeling hydrated and moisturized the next morning. When I don’t use this product, I notice that my skin feels a little more dry and wanting the hydration it gets from this oil. It definitely pairs really well with the Jade Roller and I often use this as my last step after face cream, so that I can use the jade roller at the end of my routine.

I didn’t try it as a hair oil – because it’s not really something I am looking for in my routine right now, but an update will be made for when I do use it as a hair oil!

Sphinx Body Experience Oil

This product is very moisturizing and hydrating. My skin feels smooth the next morning after using it. I found this product to be the most effective when it is applied right after the shower when my skin is still damp. It absorbed a lot better and my skin didn’t feel like an oily mess when I went to sit down/cross my legs. Even the palm of my hands absorbed it a lot better.

I also liked how this product calmed/soothed the eczema I had on my legs (or dermatitis). It had been irritating my skin for a while, but after using this oil, it’s not as noticeable (probably because my skin is not as dry).

The Metamorphic Jade Roller

I can feel my face warm up after using the jade roller and my lymph nodes definitely feel less swollen (especially around my neck area). The thing I like the most about this is how it stays cool without me needing to put it in the fridge – but that could just be where I am located geographically.
