When Nordstrom had their K-Beauty pop-up event, I decided to go.. more than a few times. Frankly, I went often hoping that they’d have a sale and eventually they did (on the last 2-3 days of the event). It was great because almost everything went on sale for 40% off and I managed to get this recovery mask for under $30! They were retailing it for around $48-$50 CAD.. that mark-up is pretty insane. Anyways, I’ve always wanted to try out random indie brands and the concept behind the mask seemed good for what I was looking for so I splurged, just a little.

Quickie
The Good
- Leaves my skin feeling smooth
- Cooling and soothing on skin
The Bad
- Scrub material can be hard on skin
- Tedious to apply and can be time consuming (similar to a clay mask)
- Looks like it’s discontinued from Nordstrom/ no longer being sold?
- Seemed pricey (I purchased it on a 40% discount)
Will I buy this again?
No, but it doesn’t look like I can anyways since it appears to be discontinued (lol). The texture of the scrub is quite harsh which makes me less inclined to use it more often.

Claims/Description
This is a clay mask and gently exfoliates using almonds. It is supposed to help skin become smoother, brighter and hydrated. (extracted from Nordstrom.com)
Packaging
The clay mask comes in one of those aluminum tubes, which is nice and sanitary.
Ingredients
Water, Stearyl, Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Propanediol, Prunus, Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Shell, Powder, 1,2-Hexanediol, Alumina, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100, Stearate, Tocopheryl, Acetate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Bees Wax, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Betaine, Panthenol, Centella Asiatica Extract, Undaria Pinnatifida Extract, Spirulina Platensis Extract, Butylene Glycol, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylyl Glycol, Carbomer, Potassium Hydroxide, CI 42090, Fragrance
Texture
The almond peel was a bit rough for my skin. The mask itself has quite a creamy texture.
Application
Nordstrom recommends to apply the mask on the entire face (avoiding the eye area) and then wait for 5 minutes before gently rubbing the scrub.
The packaging suggests using this mask only once a week:
- Massage onto skin after washing and drying skin
- Wash mask off after 5-10 minutes with warm water
The opacity of the mask starts to become more and more transparent after 5-10 minutes. The “clay” mask does not dry like typical clay masks, instead it’s got a similar feeling to the SkinFood Rice Wash-Off Mask.
Effectiveness
In general, this mask effectively does what it claims which is great (it smooths the skin and makes it feel slightly hydrated). There isn’t much of a brightening effect and my skin didn’t look more radiant. The biggest downside for me about this mask is how harsh the almond scrub feels on my skin (grainier than what I am used to).
In Summary
It’s not what I expected from a clay mask and it leaves my skin feeling quite refreshed, however, it is pricey and limited in stock. That’s the issue with KBeauty, trends change so quickly that products that were “in” last month are no longer “in” the next. Eventually products that you love using end up being discontinued and you’ll have to be on the hunt for a replacement. If it ever comes back in stock again, and your skin can handle rougher scrubs, maybe give this one a try! The texture would also be quite good for the body as well.
I love the packaging! VT is actually not an indie brand in Korea, they have several brick and mortar stores. I’m not sure about their skincare, but their makeup is on point! 😊
